I have a concern related to certain practices ICICI bank follow and inconvenience I faced during my last visit to your liberty garden branch in Malad west. I had couple of instances where I had visited your home loan branch to collect list of documents and foreclosure letter on my client’s behalf who has a home loan with ICICI Bank. I did carry my photo ID and letter of authority issued by my client in my favour. To my surprise, bank refused to hand over documents to me stating that client have to visit a branch and personally collect the same. After long argument I managed to get the same.
However, I fail to understand that if the customer is busy and had given written consent to a third party then why is the bank refusing to act on customer’s instruction. Why is the customer refused this facility of authorizing 3rd party to collect certain loan documents on his behalf and made to go through unnecessary inconvenience. Is it writtent anywhere in bank policies that letter of authority is not a valid document as per ICICI bank policies?
Is bank right at following such practices?
Thankyou for quick response. I understand no bank would share account information of their customers to third party however, here the customer himself had given instructions to the bank to hand over said document to the third party and provided letter of authority for the same.
I don’t think its written anywhere in bank policies that a letter of authority duly signed by the customer is invalid. If there is then kindly provide details. I would like to take that matter up. Please advise what do we do incase we face such issues next time.
