Homeowners usually employ cleaners and renovation agents when a tenant vacates the property after many years.
While vacating people are expected to leave the house clean and tidy, not all are courteous enough to do that.
Some actually leave a place in a state of decay and horror.
A landlord in the UK said he has to spend £15,000 (Rs 15 lakh) on clean-up bills after his tenant reportedly trashed his house in the worst way possible.
Danny Hernon was taken aback after discovering mounds of rotting rubbish and food covering the floors and walls of his property.
The three-bedroomed house in Greater Manchester was occupied by a tenant for 18 years. When it was finally vacated, Hernon noticed it was in a state of decay with waist-high piles of garbage.
Hernon said he had to 'dig his way out' of the house after seeing all the garbage. After he contacted a clean-up service, he realized the bill would cross £15,000 to get his house back to a liveable condition.
That's not all. Hernon said his tenant told him that her £500 would cover the cost, reported Metro.co.uk
The house was fully covered with rotting food and rubbish. Hernon said he also found toilet paper and faeces covering the bathroom floor. As for the walls, they were covered with black mold and cobwebs hung from the ceiling.
"It was just absolute carnage in every room. In the video the front room is empty but the skip outside is everything that came out of there," said Hernon
The 54-year-old and his business partner have reported the former tenant to the police and council.
In a similar incident from 2020, a granddad from the UK had to wear a hazmat suit and clean his property after it was left in a disgusting state by his 'tenants from hell'.
According to reports, landlord Tommy Lappin waged a 10-month battle to gain entry into his own house. But when he finally managed to check his property, he was revolted by its sorry state.
Believe it or not, the three-bedroom property in Swindon was trashed so badly, it not only required the help of cleaners but the owner himself had to wear a hazmat suit to stay safe.
