It is believed that this decision will help in preventing SIM swap fraud.

You must be wondering how the personal information of the customer reaches the fraudsters. For this phishing link is used. This link can be sent to you as an SMS or even on e-mail. When the fraudsters confirm that they have got the personal details of a person, then they demand a new SIM in place of the old SIM running in his name.

It is a matter of concern that OTPs also start reaching fraudsters. Financial fraud can be carried out by using them. To stop this fraud, the Telecom Department has brought out a new rule. according to the information For this, telecom operators have got 15 days time. It has been said that on receiving the request to upgrade the new SIM or number, the telecom companies will have to inform the users about it. Calling will have to confirm that the user only wants to upgrade to a new SIM or number.

If the customer refuses, then the telecom companies will have to stop the process immediately. Due to this, the new SIM with the user’s number will not be able to reach the fraudsters.
